Description

Juicy meatballs simmered in bourbon BBQ sauce, topped with melted cheddar and crispy bacon, piled into toasted sub rolls.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 8 slices crispy bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Mix meatball ingredients and form into 1.5-inch balls.
  2. Brown meatballs in olive oil (5-7 mins). Simmer in BBQ sauce for 10 mins.
  3. Toast sub rolls for 5 mins. Assemble with meatballs, cheese, and bacon.
  4. Return to oven for 2-3 mins to melt cheese. Serve hot!

Notes

For extra sauciness, double the BBQ sauce.
