Description

A gourmet pizza featuring a creamy white sauce, sweet apples, sharp cheddar, smoky bacon, and fresh rosemary. A perfect sweet and savory combination.


Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 Golden Delicious apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Basil or micro greens, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake bacon with rosemary and pepper for 12-14 mins. Chop and set aside.
  2. For the sauce, sauté onion and garlic in butter. Add flour and cook 1 min.
  3. Whisk in broth, milk, and oregano. Cook until thickened. Off heat, stir in mozzarella.
  4. Roll dough to a 9×13″ rectangle on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Spread sauce over dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  6. Top with apple slices, chopped bacon, and cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake for 20 mins or until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with basil or micro greens before serving.

Notes

For best results, shred your own cheese from a block and slice the apples just before assembling the pizza to prevent browning.
