Description
Spooky red velvet cupcakes with a creamy “blood” filling and pale frosting, perfect for Halloween.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel-based)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup red velvet cake crumbs
- 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1–2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 3–4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A few drops ivory or peach food coloring
- Candy fangs or red gelatin (for decoration)
- Red syrup or edible gel (for “blood”)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line muffin tin.
- Cream butter and sugar, then mix in eggs, vanilla, and red coloring.
- Whisk dry ingredients, then alternate adding with buttermilk to wet mixture.
- Stir in baking soda and vinegar mixture.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool completely.
- Mix filling ingredients and fill hollowed cupcakes.
- Prepare and tint frosting, then frost cupcakes.
- Add vampire bite decorations and “blood” drips.
Notes
For best results, use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
