Ingredients

  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 12 tbsp milk (for ranch)

Instructions

  1. Whisk ranch ingredients together, then refrigerate.
  2. Mix flour, cornmeal, and spices in one bowl; whisk eggs and milk in another.
  3. Coat mushrooms in egg, then flour mixture. Let rest 5 minutes.
  4. Fry in 350°F oil for 2-3 minutes until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve with chilled ranch dressing.

Notes

For extra crispiness, let coated mushrooms rest before frying.
